Every year, for the past ten years, we have grown a field of sunflowers on our small family farm with the hopes of preserving both the land and the history it holds.
When we started our little field of dreams all those years ago, little did we know how big of a thing it would become, with kite flying, butterfly releases, weddings, and so much more. What went from being something that was meant to save our farm, ended up being a thing of joy, of kindness, of so many lessons, as well as being a thing that connects families in a day where connections are being lost to busy lives, and not enough time.
In those years, I have collected little bits here and there of things that touched my heart in one way or another on this journey of running Nova Scotia's First Sunflower Maze. A magical place where you can either Get Lost, or Go Fly a Kite, have a picnic, release a butterfly, or just sit and watch the eagles play over the tidal river.
